Grilled chicken salad with tahini dressing – a goodness of a whole meal in a bowl, which is very delicious and healthy too!! Yea this salad is protein packed and fiber rich. You have everything you want for a meal in a bowl. It will really fill you up. They are really nutty and crunchy as well.
Chicken is grilled to perfection, which stand out with its taste and texture. Tahini dressing is the star which add that extra protein and nutty flavor from the sesame seeds. If you are not familiar with tahini, it is just white sesame ground and made into butter with some oil and pinch of salt. You can easily make at home if you can’t find them in your grocery store.
To give more crunch and little more protein boost, I have added some sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds. Raisins added to the salad gives little chewy texture in between.
One of my favorite salad to make a light dinner or to control the portion of other carbs. I love any kind of Salads!! What kind of salad do you love?? Hope you gonna love this version of chicken salad. Lets see the recipe!
Salads holds its own place on any festive/party table at any time of the year….Isn’t?? This salad got its name from Russian name of the yellow spring flower tree called “mimosa”. This is popular in all former soviet states and can be prepared with pretty common ingredients available in every kitchen.
This colorful and unique looking salad – mimosa attracted me when we were invited by an Uzbek friend. I always used to amaze how people over here arrange their table with different varieties of tasty salads, starters, nuts and sweets when receiving a guest. Totally different food culture from ours. They take us directly to the dining table , where they would keep everything ready on table before we arrive. We talk, eat and entertine there itself. In between soups, main course and desserts will be served. Soup and main course normally seen served only one item, where as back home in India we serve as many varieties of main dishes as possible ;-).
Coming to the recipe, they are pretty simple, layering tuna, cooked veggies and egg with mayonnaise. Here I prepared a dressing instead of mayonnaise, using sour cream. A delicious substitute for mayo. You can either use mayonnaise or the dressing which I have given below, which is bit more healthier version. If you are not a fan of tuna, cooked/tinned chicken or turkey can be substituted. But I guess tuna gives a unique taste for this salad. You can also add onion and hard cheese if you prefer.
Hopefully this would be my last post for the year 2017. Wishing you all very Happy new year and joyful holidays!!! Stay happy and safe!
Summer here means lots and lots of barbecuing & partying and this hearty slaw is a perfect side with them. Super crisp and crunch salad with sweet and tangy at the same time. This coleslaw is soo tasty and highly satisfying.
This colorful slaw is very healthy too. Coated with simple vinegar dressing and those bright colors will catch anyone’s eyes and so satisfying as well. Those lovely combination of crispy cabbage, crunchy and little sweet & sour apple, juicy and sweet strawberries very well calls for the summery flavor. Addition of dill leaves…mmmm they were sooo good.
How do you like to go for grocery shopping?? Me….like to go alone, without hubby accompanying me!! Especially when going to farmers market. I love to roam around looking each and every items – simply enjoy bargaining 😉 and seeing competition among the fellow farmers. And now he is happy that I don’t bother him for buying groceries and I am the happiest he is not coming with me to make hurry burry grocery shopping!
Last week when I went to buy vegetables, the lady from whom I usually buy root veggies, she took out one small packet of freshly harvested baby potatoes and showed to me. It was soooo fresh and cute, even there were no skin on it, first time I was seeing such fresh potatoes and I couldn’t resist buying that. They were not displaying it, only giving to the people who is coming and asking for it. Lovely lady showed it to me, since last couple of times I was getting root veggies from her.
I was so excited to cook those and started thinking what to make with those cuties from there itself. I don’t want to load them with all lots of spices. First thought of boiling and having with salt and pepper, finally enhanced it with garlic butter. Those pan seared babies, Dipping in source cream was soooooo delicious and finger licking.
This is a simple recipe, makes excellent snack or a side for your dinner. Not soo fancy, yet delicious, you can put together easily and loved by kids and elders alike.
Do you make salads for your dinner daily?? Most of the days we do! As a malabarian, non veg dishes are must for us almost all day. So I always try to include some sort of salads too in dinner menu. This tasty Greek salad is one amongst them, a family favorite too.
This salad is very easy to put together and the combination of fresh and crispy vegetables with soft and salty feta cheese is amazing. Coated with simple and basic dressing, yet they are very flavorful.
This easy salad can be added to your party menu, beautiful color combination and very light and flavorful dressing will be a real crowd pleasing item. And also you will be tired after making soo many varieties of main dishes and without much hard work and trouble, you can put together this salad.
French Salad is one amongst many salads we usually order from restaurants during our weekend dinner out!! Its called ‘Francuski salat’ here and I fell in love with this salad ever since I tried from restaurant here. When I put my hands on making this salad in my kitchen, of course I must share it here, so that you guys also can try it out!!!
Match stick sized veggies and cooked meat which is coated with simple dressing – Mayonnaise and topped up with crunchy fried potatoes. Yes those crunchy potatoes are my favorite part of this salad and I am happy if I get only this salad, lipioshka (Uzbek local bread) and lemony sugary black tea. Why can’t this salad make a light meal with lipioshka??! You have your fiber and nutrients loaded veggies, protein from beef and bread gives the carbs and ending with lemon tea!!! Isn’t that a perfect light meal??
If you have your veggies cut perfectly into match stick sized/ thinly as possible…. your salad is ready!!I hope you will enjoy this as much as we do!! Lets see this super simple Francuski Salat recipe…
In our Kerala dishes, we include most of the veggies cooked as some curry, stir fries etc…at my home salads we make mostly with the combination of cucumber, tomato, onion combination with some salt and pepper or my dad’s special cucumber, tomato, lettuce with salt and olive oil. I was not a fan of salad…. when I started my diet very religiously, most of the dinner and lunch I included some raw veggies. I was bored with having same style of salads. Thats when I started inventing different salads and now in love with them.
I love the combination of tanginess from lemon juice, little sweetness from honey, some hotness from pepper. This dressing really gives nice taste to this salad. I am sure you will love it, as I did :). This is something you can make very quickly.
Besides that when I read about the health benefits of radishess….I was like wowww…. it’s just a power pack of nutrients. This salad is definitely a healthy addition to your meal.
